Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 23 October 2026
These terms apply to your use of rekort.nl, your Rekort account, demos you submit and tracks we release together (the “Service”). The Service is offered by Rekort Music, Mathildadonk 87, 4707 VD Roosendaal, The Netherlands, KvK 42188760, info@rekort.nl (“Rekort”, “we”). By submitting a demo or creating an account you accept these terms. How we handle personal data is described in our privacy policy.
1. Definitions
- Track: an audio recording and the underlying musical work, including artwork and other material you send with it.
- Demo: a Track you submit to Rekort for review, as an upload or a link.
- Acceptance: our written confirmation (for example by email) that we want to release a Demo, together with the release proposal for that Track.
- You: the person or entity submitting a Demo or using an account.
2. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 16 years old. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms and to any release agreement on your behalf. You keep your account details accurate and your password confidential, and you are responsible for activity under your account.
3. Submitting a demo
- Submitting a Demo is free and does not oblige you to anything. Submission does not give Rekort an exclusive licence.
- You give us permission to store, listen to and share the Demo internally for the sole purpose of reviewing it and preparing a release proposal. We do not publish or distribute a Demo without Acceptance.
- We aim to send you feedback within 48 hours. If we don't accept your Demo, this permission ends and we delete the Demo in line with our privacy policy.
4. Exclusive licence after acceptance
If we accept your Demo and you agree to the release proposal, you grant Rekort an exclusive, worldwide licence to reproduce, distribute, stream, make available, promote and monetise the Track, starting on the date of Acceptance and lasting six (6) months (the “Exclusivity Period”). During the Exclusivity Period you will not release, distribute or license the Track through any other label, distributor or platform without our prior written consent.
After the Exclusivity Period the licence automatically becomes non-exclusive and continues until you ask us to remove the Track (article 6). From then on you are free to release the Track elsewhere as well.
The release proposal sets out the details for each Track, including the revenue share. If the release proposal and these terms conflict, the release proposal prevails.
5. Your rights and guarantees
- You keep full ownership of your masters and publishing. Rekort only receives the licence described above.
- You guarantee that you own or control all rights in the Track, that any samples, features or co-writers are cleared, and that the Track does not infringe the rights of others or break the law.
- You indemnify Rekort against third-party claims resulting from a breach of these guarantees.
6. Removal
After the Exclusivity Period you can ask us to remove a Track at any time by emailing info@rekort.nl. We request removal from all platforms within 30 days. Platforms may need extra time to process the takedown, and revenue earned before removal is still settled under the release proposal.
7. Revenue share
Submitting a Demo and using the website are free. We only earn a share of the revenue a released Track generates, as agreed in the release proposal. We send you a statement of earnings and pay your share as set out there.
8. Suspension and termination
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account if you breach these terms or the law, or after a long period of inactivity with prior notice. Closing an account does not end licences for Tracks already released; those continue under articles 4 and 6.
9. Liability
We do our best to keep the Service available and secure, but we cannot guarantee that it is always error-free or uninterrupted. Our total liability is limited to the revenue share Rekort received for the Track concerned in the 12 months before the damage occurred, and we are not liable for indirect damage such as lost profits. These limits do not apply in case of intent or gross negligence, or where mandatory law does not allow them.
10. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We announce material changes at least 30 days in advance by email or on the website. Changes do not apply retroactively to Tracks already accepted. If you do not agree, you can close your account before the change takes effect.
11. Governing law and disputes
Dutch law applies. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in the district of Zeeland-West-Brabant. If you act as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and may also go to the court where you live.
